Reconciliation

In the sacrament of reconciliation, Jesus forgives us of sins we have committed after our baptism. Contrition is true sorrow for the sins we have done and the desire to never do them again It means we hate sin and trust in God to help us do better. Absolution is the forgiveness of sins the priest grants in the name of Jesus Christ. It restores our relationship with God. Absolution reconciles us to the Church

First Reconciliation Requirements

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Confession) is the sacrament which reunites us to God when we have committed personal sins after our Baptism. This is normally celebrated once a child reaches the age of reason. In the Diocese of Phoenix, this typically occurs in second grade. Children should be enrolled for at least one year of Faith Formation prior to the year that they prepare to receive this sacrament.

St. Bernadette Parish offers Family Catechesis for children of our parish families to prepare them for this sacrament. Parents must be registered members of Saint Bernadette and have completed all paperwork required of the Faith Formation department.

Preparation for St. John XXIII Students

St. John XXIII students take their Sacramental Preparation classes through their parish.
